Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe Finance Manager Jobs in Kenya;The Finance Manager is responsible for effective operational financial management across the Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia country programmes.

The role ensures robust systems for accounting, compliance, budgeting and reporting in alignment with donor and organizational requirements.

Reporting to the Finance Coordinator, the Finance Manager provides financial leadership and strategic support to programme and operational teams, delivering timely financial information, strengthening controls and ensuring sound stewardship.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Vision

    Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Manage preparation and maintenance of financial records and reports.

  • Oversee timely and accurate accounting, reconciliations and donor reporting.

  • Ensure expenses are correctly allocated and compliant.

    Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Coordinate preparation and monitoring of multi‑annual plans and project budgets.

  • Provide financial analysis and guidance for decision‑making.

  • Review expenditure against budgets and support revisions.

    Cash & Treasury Management

  • Oversee cashbooks, bank accounts, advances and reconciliations.

  • Ensure secure and timely payments.

  • Identify and mitigate cash management risks.

    Payments & Supplier Management

  • Ensure payment processes comply with procedures and donor requirements.

  • Authorise financial documentation and maintain controls.

    Financial Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Ensure compliance with guidelines, donor requirements and regulations.

  • Implement controls to prevent fraud, corruption and misuse of resources.

  • Report risks and irregularities.

    Partner Financial
    Management & Capacity Building

  • Review partner financial reports and documentation.

  • Provide guidance on budgeting, reporting and compliance.

  • Support partner assessments and capacity strengthening.

    People Management

  • Lead and develop the finance team.

  • Conduct performance management, coaching and training.

  • Promote inclusive and equitable working environment.

    Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain finance and administrative filing systems.

  • Coordinate submission of required documentation.

  • Ensure statutory obligations are followed.

    Safeguarding

  • Uphold safeguarding policies and Code of Conduct.

  • Strengthen financial controls to prevent fraud, corruption and aid diversion.

  • Ensure transparent and accountable payment systems.

    Safety & Security

  • Ensure compliance with safety and security procedures.

  • Oversee safe management of cash and financial assets.

  • Support contingency planning and continuity measures.

    Person Specification

    Essential

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting or Business.

  • CPA(K) or ACCA qualification; membership in professional body.

  • At least six years’ experience in similar role.

  • Experience in NGO/INGO financial management, budgeting, reporting and compliance.

  • Experience supervising finance staff and partner financial management.

    Desirable

  • Experience with donor‑funded projects and audits.

  • Knowledge of national regulations and international standards.

  • Experience with SUN system and multi‑currency grants.

  • Experience managing multi‑country operations.

  • Strong analytical, financial planning and decision‑making skills.

  • Leadership and people management abilities.

  • Excellent communication and financial advisory skills.
